The 2025 David Prast Award: Not just one winner but two!

The 2025 David Prast Award: Not just one winner but two!

Each year, SpinalCure and SCIA jointly support a generous $15,000 professional development award in honour of the late David Prast, the visionary SCI advocate who established NeuroMoves (then WalkOn) in Australia. The award recognises a NeuroMoves therapist whose dedication, innovation, and leadership have made an outstanding contribution to the spinal cord injury community.

SpinalCure is proud to announce that recipient of the 2025 David Prast Achievement Award is Isobel Ahern, NeuroMoves Exercise Physiologist.

Isobel will use her prize to further develop her skills in innovative clinical practice. She will travel to the United States to participate in the NISE spinal stimulation course with Gerti Motavelli, followed by attendance at the AusACPD Biennale Conference in Hobart. In line with the award’s purpose, Isobel will also support the development of the wider NeuroMoves team through a structured “give-back” training initiative.

The 2025 nominees showcased an exceptional level of talent and commitment across the NeuroMoves network. Due to the extraordinary calibre of this year’s applicants, SpinalCure contributed an additional $2,500 which was matched by SCIA, creating a supplementary $5,000 professional development travel scholarship.

This secondary award was presented to Jodie Sim, NeuroMoves Exercise Physiologist, enabling her to attend the 2025 ISCoS Conference (International Spinal Cord Society Scientific Meeting) in Sweden.

At SpinalCure, our vision is to foster a community of exceptional Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists who have access to world-class training opportunities. We are committed to supporting clinicians who continually strive for excellence in their practice within the NeuroMoves program.

Please join us in congratulating Isobel and Jodie on their outstanding achievements!
