What a day! Rugby royalty, legendary moments and over $137,000 raised for SpinalCure
What an incredible honour it was for SpinalCure Australia to host the inaugural Hilton Rugby Club Luncheon last week—and what a truly unbelievable day.
In a sold-out room filled with passion, generosity and purpose, our community came together to raise an amazing $137,000 in support of spinal cord injury research—bringing us one step closer to life-changing breakthroughs.
Taking centre stage were rugby royalty George Gregan, Matt Burke and Mike Catt, who lit up the room with unforgettable stories, banter and brilliant camaraderie – all seamlessly led by the ever-brilliant Sandra Sully. The energy was electric, with rugby balls sailing through the room (not a single glass smashed!) and laughter echoing throughout the Hilton Sydney.

But the day wasn’t just about laughs—it was deeply moving too. Powerful, personal stories of resilience and triumph from Sam Bloom, Richard Tombs and Alex Noble reminded us all of what’s at stake, and what’s possible. The love, support, and sheer buzz in the room were undeniable—it was more than just a lunch.
A huge thanks to Phil Harte, the driving force behind this phenomenal fundraising effort, and to the gracious team at the Hilton Sydney. To everyone who joined us—thank you for your generosity, your spirit and for making the day so memorable.
And of course, our deepest thanks to our generous sponsors, prize donors and supporters:
Oroton, TAB, Mercedes-Benz Sydney, Huon Salmon, CleanPeak Energy, Renascent, M.J. Bale, Peter Lehmann Wines, Frigcorp, Cactus Imaging, Cadbury Australia, IVE Group, R.M. Williams, SYDCAP, Sharp & Carter, and The National Golf Club, Alba Thermal Springs, Penhaligon’s and Headland Distillery—your support made this incredible event possible.
Last but by no means least, thank you to our team of fabulous volunteers who gave up their time to help make the day such a success.
Together, we brought hope, and a cure one step closer.
